Master dry extraction and wet fermentation methods

🍅

Wet Seed Fermentation (Tomatoes)

  1. Squeeze Pulp: Squeeze ripe tomato seeds and juice into a glass jar with 2 tbsp water.
  2. Ferment (3 Days): Keep uncovered in a warm spot until a layer of white mold forms on top.
  3. Rinse & Separate: Fill jar with water, swirl, and pour off floating pulp/mold. Good seeds sink.
  4. Dry on Parchment: Spread clean seeds on parchment paper for 10-14 days. Avoid paper towels.

Dry Testing Checklist (Beans, Peas, Corn)

  • The Hammer/Snap Test: Seed should crack cleanly under pressure, not dent with a fingernail.
  • Desiccant Included: Silica gel packet or dry rice pouch placed inside storage container.
  • Cool & Dark: Stored in an airtight jar kept under 20°C (68°F).
